Private Life
2019, participatory performance and video.
Creating Private Life I worked with a local football team. The performance draws on drills to re-imagine dance as the intersection of behaviour and collective ritual. The performance blurs convention, habit, and progress-based intention to explore selfhood in the context of the collective and specifically the competitive collective. On the surface individual expression is minimised with progress and maintenance prioritised, however, infront of the camera (sports performance becoming artistic performance) the athletes' relationships are brought forward.
